Trying to conceive?
We can help! We have enabled hundreds of people to successfully have a baby in Melbourne. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine has been used to treat infertility for more than 2000 years. It has been proven to be both effective and safe. We in the West are now cottoning on to this fact. So much so that there are now acupuncture services offered in many IVF clinics. Acupuncture alone can increase the chances of pregnancy, with or without assisted reproductive techniques.
I have helped countless babies come into the world in my 15+ years of practice. I find it especially rewarding since not only am I helping the parent/s with their health & fertility, I am also helping a little being come into this world; as naturally and simply as possible.
The traditional medicine works on many levels to encourage pregnancy. It’s relaxing, yes you may not think having tiny needles put into you can be relaxing, but it really is, some people find it even more relaxing than massage. Try it and see for yourself.
Acupuncture and traditional medicine herbs can regulate your hormones which can enhance your chances of conceiving. Every woman that I’ve ever treated to improve menstruation in the past 15 years of practice has noticed a change in 1-2 cycles. It works fast; even if you have PCOS or endometriosis. It makes sense that the healthier you are, the more likely you are to conceive.
One of the best things about seeing holistic practitioners like us is that we can improve your fertility and general health at the same time. We have assisted with:
- Unexplained infertility
- Secondary infertility
- IVF/ICSI Support
- Multiple miscarriages
- Irregular or no ovulation
- Uterus fibroids
- Women aged in their late 30s to mid 40s

According to a recent study, women who used Chinese Herbal Medicine were twice as likely to get pregnant within a four month period as those who used Western medical fertility drug therapy or IVF1. So if you are having difficulty getting pregnant, acupuncture and herbal medicine is a great option.
I believe that women should always try the simplest, safest and most natural approach first if possible; avoiding complicated and often stressful, expensive and intrusive medical procedures. As a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with extensive experience in helping people conceive, I understand that you may have many questions. Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions:
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment for pregnancy may include Acupuncture, Herbs, Nutrition and/or relaxation techniques. It’s a holistic approach, tailored to your requirements.
How do Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine help pregnancy?
Acupuncture stimulates the flow of energy in the body and enhances the blood circulation to the pelvic region. It benefits organ function and improves general health. Clinical studies have shown acupuncture to regulate hormone levels, which can balance Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) by the hypothalamus, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) by the pituitary gland and the estrogen and progesterone levels from the ovaries. Chinese herbal formulas restore reproductive energy to help the body produce a healthy ovum, balance hormones and sustain pregnancy.
What is the treatment process?
The initial phase of the treatment involves regulating the menstrual cycle which can treat underlying conditions such as hormone imbalance, PCOS, Endometriosis and Fibroids. This phase typically takes 3 to 6 months or more depending on the nature of the problem, the age of the patient, any associated traumas, toxin exposure from medication, genetic influences, lifestyle habits and illnesses. Within this phase, most women will conceive naturally.
The vast majority of women will also benefit from regular periods, bright red blood flow without clots, minimal or no menstrual cramping and/or breast tenderness, better emotional balance, better sleep, warm hands and feet, a healthy libido and increased energy. Once conception occurs the second phase of the treatment increases the probability of a full-term, easier pregnancy and decreases the possibility of miscarriage.

What about him?
Over the previous 50 years, researchers have discovered that sperm quality and quantity is important to successful fertility. Not only when it comes to fertilisation, but also implantation and the development of the embryo itself. So situations like miscarriage could have more to do with sperm quality than we imagined, and treatments that focus solely on the woman may indeed miss the mark. A recent issue of Fertility and Sterility showed that acupuncture significantly improved both sperm count and quality in men with infertility of unknown cause.
